Georgia Glories
Updated: Sep 4, 2018
Being a student at Savannah College of Art and Design has allowed me to live in Savannah, GA for 2 years now. Savannah is full of art, history, and fun; and did I even mention the food? There's a lot to love in Sav, but I find that it's engaging, open spots are what make the city so enjoyable. The inviting atmosphere in the parks, stores, and people make Savannah my home, away from home.
I wouldn't argue that Savannah is a place for everyone, but it's at least worth a weekend trip. There's so much depth in the little details, and I find bringing a friend with you to look for those details makes the hot weather more bearable. While home over this summer, I was lucky enough to be able to make a day trip to Savannah with my boyfriend, and best friend, Nick. Here's some of the finds we captured.
It's the company and the stories that bring life to my home, and I've found that in Savannah. SCAD is spread throughout the city, so this means that I'm just as likely to meet a local as I am to meet a student my age. This variety in friendships is refreshing. It's so easy to only surround myself with other artists, and specifically those who are in my major; and even though I love art, sometimes I find my most creative ideas come up when I'm talking to a local couple walking their dog or a barista when I'm needing a caffeine boost.
In coming to SCAD, I knew I would love the art-filled atmosphere, but I had no idea that ran deep into the city too. From the moss to the designs on tables, Savannah is a Georgia glory.
